Ethics Through Film Festival with University Christian High School
Admission is Free!
Ethics is the cornerstone of a just and harmonious society. It guides our decisions, shapes our character, and influences our interactions with others. By understanding and practicing ethical principles, we become better equipped to navigate the complexities of our world with integrity and compassion. Film is a powerful medium that transcends boundaries, evoking emotions and provoking thought. Through compelling narratives and relatable characters, films can illustrate ethical concepts in ways that are both engaging and impactful. They allow us to experience diverse perspectives and reflect on our own values and choices.
In addition to University Christian High School students, members of the community are invited to participate in a film series sponsored by University Christian High School and Hickory Museum of Art.

Opportunities include working in education, as shopHMA assistants and office volunteers, with museum fundraising events like guildHMA Gala and The Autolawn Euro Classic Car Show, and more.

New Exhibition Opens: Barry G. Huffman: Life Illustrated
Six decades ago a young newly married woman began painting pictures of her everyday life. What started out as an endeavor to please herself with a memory became an obsession of documenting her thoughts, experiences, joys and sorrows, and loss and frustrations of life. As a private quiet person this became her practice of dealing with life.
More than 400 paintings later Barry Gurley Huffman who began as a self-taught artist had become an artist in her own right that defies categories of a persona or style and worthy of recognition of her contribution and talent as a visual artist. She has created a unique and amazing documentation of a fading but not forgotten era.
She (Barry Huffman) is an American original, following her own path, finding a way to express love and beauty as best she can, not quite like anyone else.

How do you use the creative process in your every day life?
This exhibition is a celebration of the creative process regardless of your discipline and career pathway. Art and creativity play a role in all of our lives from the way we problem solve to the techniques we develop to do our professions.
